About the Role
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescription medications to patients, providing expert counsel on safe medication use, and ensuring pharmacy services comply with regulatory, policy, and procedure requirements for accuracy, safety, and security.
Responsibilities
- Dispense and oversee the filling of prescriptions to ensure accurate medication delivery.
- Ensure effective communication with providers, facilities, patients, and internal teams for patient-focused accuracy, safety, and security.
- Provide patient consultations on safe use, storage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Respond to patient inquiries and consult with prescribing physicians.
- Comply with URAC, state, and federal drug laws, monitoring patient care and maintaining controlled substance records.
- Participate in inventory activities to remove outdated and damaged drugs.
- Maintain effective communications with facilities to foster business relationships and customer loyalty.
- Provide technical, policy, and regulatory guidance to pharmacy technicians for accurate dispensing, recording, labeling, storage, and reimbursement processing.
- Assist with workflow maintenance and task assignment for efficient and compliant pharmacy operations.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Stay current on pharmacological knowledge, legislation, and continuing education.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
