About the Role

This role offers a meaningful opportunity to shape credit analysis across one of the most dynamic and strategically important segments of capital markets. As Director, the role carries responsibility for managing a diverse portfolio of North American infrastructure credits, delivering rigorous, forward-looking rating opinions that support capital formation and market understanding across rapidly evolving subsectors. The Director leads and develops a team of analysts, drives analytical quality and consistency, and engages with issuers, investors, and market participants as a credible voice on infrastructure credit — supported by a strong pipeline of new issuances and refinancings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop analysts, building credit expertise and the capability to effectively leverage digital and AI-enabled tools.
  • Drive adoption of modern analytical practices by embedding generative AI, advanced analytics, and automation into monitoring, drafting, research, and workflow execution — improving speed, consistency, and analytical depth while preserving human judgment and accountability.
  • Lead high-quality credit and capital markets analysis across assigned issuers and sectors, delivering forward-looking insights that support ratings, monitoring activities, risk assessments, and rating committee discussions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Translate issuer and sector developments into clear, decision-ready analytical perspectives, integrating scenario analysis and forward-looking risk considerations.
  • Identify and implement workflow improvements in partnership with Data, Technology, Compliance, In-Business Control, and Methodology teams to scale best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with issuers, investors, and market participants through credible, insight-led engagement.
  • Communicate complex, data-informed analysis clearly while maintaining analytical independence and objectivity.
  • Ensure strong analytical execution with clear documentation, high-quality outputs, and adherence to governance and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain oversight of portfolio risk to identify and escalate emerging risks early.
  • Apply disciplined oversight to the use of AI and automated outputs, ensuring transparency, explainability, and appropriate controls are in place.

Requirements

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 10+ years of relevant experience in project finance or infrastructure finance, including roles in ratings, banking, advisory, investing, or credit.
  • Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure project structures and documentation, including public-private partnership (PPP) agreements, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts, and offtake or availability-payment frameworks.
  • Strong financial analysis expertise, including cash flow modeling, ratio and covenant analysis, and accounting fundamentals.
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver high-quality credit analysis across a wide variety of asset classes, and to train and coach junior analysts through structured feedback and quality review.
  • Experience mentoring or managing analysts, with a demonstrated ability to build team capability and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, including the adoption of AI and automation.
  • Practical experience using generative AI, advanced data analytics, or automation tools to enhance research, monitoring, and workflow efficiency while maintaining strong validation and analytical discipline.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to present complex analytical insights clearly and credibly to issuers, investors, and market participants while maintaining analytical independence.
  • Disciplined approach to portfolio risk oversight, with the ability to identify emerging risks early, escalate appropriately, and operate within established governance frameworks.
  • Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
