About the Role
Join an early-stage insurtech company building AI-powered tools for insurance claims operations. As the founding product designer, you will shape the end-to-end experience for claims professionals and leaders, turning complex, high-volume workflows into clear, effective products.
Responsibilities
- Design customer-facing experiences across claims workspaces, operational tools, and executive dashboards, focusing on simplifying complex claims workflows.
- Lead UX research and product instrumentation by reviewing behavioral data and heat maps, and speaking with users to guide improvements.
- Partner with product leadership, forward-deployed engineers, and the broader engineering team to translate customer needs into workflows and implementation-ready designs.
- Design human-in-the-loop AI interactions to help users understand agent actions, reasoning, information used, and uncertainty.
- Guide the product's evolution toward an enterprise-ready experience from discovery through delivery.
- Establish design principles and a design system, prototype with AI tools, and measure changes' impact on user effort.
Requirements
- Five to eight years of product design experience, including early-stage startup experience as a founding designer or first design hire.
- A portfolio demonstrating UX-first design for dense, technical software used by operators throughout the workday.
- Experience simplifying complex workflows through user research and data (e.g., behavioral analytics, heat maps).
- Hands-on prototyping experience with AI coding tools like Claude or Lovable.
- Strong product design experience beyond visual design, with a record of working closely with engineering teams.
- Experience in insurance, claims, healthcare, or another compliance-heavy operational domain is a plus.
- Experience designing AI-assisted workflows and design systems is a plus.
- U.S. work authorization is required.
