About the Role
The Interim Support Lead ensures every customer enjoys an outstanding shopping experience at Five Below. This temporary role provides leadership experience and supports the business during peak seasons or to cover management absences. The role involves assisting with front-end operations, cash management, merchandising, cleanliness, safety, and driving sales, while also taking on Manager On Duty responsibilities during assigned shifts.
Responsibilities
- Ensures all crew members are Wowing the Customer through personal contact with customers.
- Trains the crew on the B.E.S.T. customer service experience, ensuring a fast, friendly checkout.
- Oversees daily activities of store associates, ensuring effective performance and excellent customer service.
- Assists with receiving, unpacking, and organizing new stock for efficient sales floor placement.
- Acts as Manager on Duty when needed, taking full responsibility for store operations, staff management, and customer service.
- Manages the opening or closing of the store, including cash security, locking doors, and setting alarms.
- Supports the onboarding and ongoing training of associates on store policies, product knowledge, and procedures.
- Drives store sales and controls expenses by optimizing merchandising, staff performance, and customer service.
- Partners with the store leadership team in merchandising procedures and World Recovery.
- Performs store maintenance, including garbage removal, cleaning, and stockroom organization.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- College experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Creative thinking.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs, including days, evenings, weekends, and potentially overnight shifts and travel.
- Must be able to identify and discern email and print instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time.
- Frequently operates cash register, computer, hand-held, phone, walkie, and mobile devices.
- Frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and places/removes merchandise up to a height of 5-10 feet.
- Frequently ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and put away stock.
- Frequently position self to kneel, bend, twist, and stoop.
- Frequently communicate and exchange information with customers and coworkers.
- Frequently move across the sales floor assisting customers and managing stock.
