About the Role
The Floating Hospital is seeking an Optometric Technician to assist the Optometrist with patient care and eye examinations. This role is crucial in providing unrestricted healthcare to all individuals, regardless of their background or ability to pay, aligning with the hospital's long-standing commitment to community health.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Optometrist with patient care and eye examinations, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanning.
- Screen patients and take medical histories.
- Administer eyedrops as directed by the Optometrist.
- Provide patient education.
- Assist with scheduling.
- Clean, sanitize, and properly maintain equipment and exam rooms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Utilize EMR software for scanning, triage, PMH/vital signs, orders, immunizations/PPD, and telephone encounters.
Requirements
- Prior experience as an Optometric Technician is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Must have experience with EMR software.
- Possess a pleasant demeanor and positive attitude when interacting with patients and staff.
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaking is required.
