About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Engineer to join the Risk & Control Governance team. This role is crucial for developing the governance, assurance, and data foundations necessary for consistent, explainable, and auditable risk decisions at Wise. You will work at the intersection of Risk API, Product, and Financial Crime teams, building systems that ensure confidence in risk assessments at scale.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain data ownership, lineage, and quality monitoring systems.
- Design continuous monitoring and validation systems for control assurance.
- Implement end-to-end audit trails, change history tracking, and explainability tooling.
- Design robust, high-throughput solutions for large data volumes.
- Build data quality monitoring, data contracts, and lineage tracking for full traceability.
- Design and build automated monitoring systems to validate control effectiveness.
- Create audit trail infrastructure and explainability tooling for regulatory reporting.
- Work closely with the Risk API team to embed governance and assurance capabilities.
Requirements
- Proven experience building high-throughput, data-intensive systems in any language.
- Hands-on expertise with Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience designing systems for scale and reliability.
- Experience with data quality frameworks, pipeline orchestration, or lineage tracking.
- Ability to reason about complex distributed systems and identify failure modes.
- Ability to design robust and operationally simple solutions.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and defining your own work.
- Ability to drive delivery end-to-end without close direction.
- Ability to work effectively across team boundaries with Risk API, Product, and FinCrime stakeholders.
