About the Role
You will own the models that ensure product safety end-to-end. This includes defining detection needs, working with labelers on data, training and evaluating models on GPUs, deploying them to production, and continuously measuring and improving their performance. You will have the autonomy to decide what to build and how, from traditional classifiers to LLMs, and will be accountable for the accuracy, latency, and cost of models processing millions of images and messages daily.
Responsibilities
- Define moderation model requirements.
- Collaborate with labelers on data preparation.
- Train and evaluate moderation models on GPUs.
- Deploy moderation models into production.
- Measure and improve model performance post-deployment.
- Develop and implement image moderation solutions.
- Develop and implement chat moderation solutions using LLMs and classifiers.
- Optimize the model retraining loop to under a week.
- Automate parts of content review and user banning processes with safeguards.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to build technically complex products at scale.
- Experience solving hard problems in depth.
- Ability to clearly explain technical work and its challenges.
- Product judgment: ability to identify valuable features and support with evidence.
- Experience owning customer-facing products.
- Proven track record of end-to-end ownership, from ambiguous problem to shipped product.
- Experience building moderation or safety models at scale.
- Knowledge of proper handling of sensitive data.
- Rigorous and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to ask clarifying questions about impact, cost, and user base.
- Proficiency in running experiments and analyzing results.
- Ability to distinguish between building robust solutions and simple ones.
- Clear and concise communication skills, supported by data.
