About the Role
The Senior Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (Sr. CASAC) is a key member of the interdisciplinary treatment team at Gracie Square Hospital. In this role, you will provide individual and group counseling services to patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, including tobacco dependence identified through TAPS screening. Working closely with clinical staff, you will support treatment planning, patient engagement, recovery education, and coordination of ongoing care to help patients achieve their treatment goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling for patients with substance use disorders.
- Conduct assessments and contribute to individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on substance use, recovery, and community resources.
- Maintain timely and accurate electronic documentation.
- Provide scheduling, guidance, and support to per diem CASAC staff.
- Ensure patients receive substance use treatment services as outlined in treatment plans.
- Monitor documentation compliance and support staff training and development.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- NYS Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in addiction treatment
- Experience working with individuals with psychiatric illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
- One year of supervisory experience
