About the Role
As part of the Schwab Technology Services Insights team, you will partner with internal Business stakeholders and the Data Engineering team to design and develop data solutions for data science, analytics, and reporting. You will lead use case analysis, design, and solutioning for enterprise data integrations that enable insights for internal technology leadership. This role offers opportunities for growth in responsibility, work on challenging projects, train on new technologies, and lead other developers to shape the future of the Data Warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery with business and technical stakeholders to understand business capability, use cases, data needs, business rules, and desired outcomes.
- Analyze source data and business rules; translate findings into clear business capability use cases, functional requirements, data definitions, source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, and data-quality expectations.
- Decompose business needs into well-defined features and stories, including acceptance criteria, dependencies, and traceability.
- Facilitate requirements, mapping, and solution reviews with business partners, product owners, developers, QA, and support teams; resolve gaps and confirm shared understanding.
- Create data warehouse models and produce ETL design patterns for enterprise data engineering projects.
- Assist in the design and development of scalable enterprise data ingestion and integration workflows across batch, near-real time, and real-time patterns.
- Partner with engineers to evaluate solution options and clarify implementation details, ensuring delivered data integrations meet business needs.
- Define data-validation and user-acceptance scenarios, coordinate stakeholder reviews, and document results, defects, and outstanding issues.
- Maintain requirements, mappings, decisions, and other analysis artifacts throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Help product owners and delivery teams assess scope, prioritize work, identify dependencies, and manage changes to requirements.
- Support implementation readiness and production triage by clarifying expected business behavior, assessing data discrepancies, and coordinating follow-up.
- Use SQL and data-analysis techniques to investigate source data, validate mappings, reconcile results, and communicate findings.
- Contribute to technical artifacts or development activities when needed, focusing primarily on business analysis and delivery alignment.
- Identify delivery, data, and technology risks early and work with stakeholders to define mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams and shared functions to improve handoffs, support processes, and delivery practices.
- Promote clear communication, constructive feedback, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.
Requirements
- 5 - 10 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or data analysis on data integration, data warehouse, or analytics initiatives.
- 5 - 7 years of experience working with data warehouse platforms such as Teradata, or with Hadoop and other large-scale data environments.
- 2+ years of experience working with cloud data platforms.
- Demonstrated experience eliciting, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, business rules, data definitions, and process flows.
- Demonstrated experience creating or reviewing source-to-target data mappings, transformation rules, and data-quality requirements.
- Strong SQL skills for exploring, profiling, reconciling, and validating data, and for communicating findings to technical and non-technical partners.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing and data integration concepts, including schemas, fact and dimension data, data quality, and operational data exchanges or stores.
- Experience translating business needs into features or user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery-ready requirements.
- Experience defining or supporting data-validation and user-acceptance testing, including documenting results and coordinating issue resolution.
- Experience with Erwin, or similar data modeling platform for database design, cataloguing, and modeling.
- Experience in schema design and proven ability to work with complex data structures and enterprise-scale datasets.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams and managing requirements or stories with Jira, Rally, or similar tools.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, release readiness, and production implementation practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business, technology, QA, vendor, and geographically distributed teams.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, written and verbal communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with enterprise data integration tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, IICS, or similar platforms.
- Experience analyzing data from corporate systems such as Workday, BMC Remedy Helix, Jira, or Rally.
- Familiarity with data pipelines, batch and near-real-time integration patterns, and common data-quality controls.
- Experience with scheduling, deployment, or delivery tools such as Control-M, ESP, GitHub, Bamboo, Liquibase, or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with Unix environments, shell scripting, or Python.
