About the Role

Responsibilities
- Performs general heavy and light cleaning and housekeeping services in various University buildings.
- Operates housekeeping and floor maintenance machines for stripping, waxing, and buffing floors.
- Performs cleaning and disinfecting procedures, including fogging rooms and washing surfaces.
- Washes walls, ceilings, stairs, and windows; cleans overhead equipment and furniture.
- Distributes linen and makes empty beds.
- Manages waste disposal, including emptying wastebaskets and loading trash trucks.
- Washes large trash cans, blackboards, and doors; cleans kitchens and dining areas.
- Performs custodial duties such as moving furniture, tightening fixtures, and shoveling snow.
- Maintains cleanliness of work storage closets and equipment.
Requirements
- Requires ability to understand and carry out oral instructions.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach continuously.
- Must be able to handle heavy and medium-weight material, equipment, and supplies.
- May be exposed to refuse, dirt, dust, detergents, body wastes, and odors.
- Occasionally exposed to the possibility of contacts with infection and infectious diseases.
Skills
- Operating a variety of commercial-type and light-weight maintenance machines and equipment
- Using automatic scrubbing machines, strippers, waxers, buffers, polishers, wall washing equipment, rug shampoo machines, and vacuum equipment
- Using wet and dry mops, dusters, sponges, and pails
- Operating small and large trash pick-up trucks and small flat-bed trucks
- Using ladders and small tools such as hammer, screwdriver, and pliers
