About the Role
Gracie Square Hospital, affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine, seeks a Senior Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (Sr. CASAC) to provide counseling services to patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This role is crucial in supporting treatment planning, patient engagement, recovery education, and care coordination.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling for patients with substance use disorders.
- Conduct assessments and contribute to individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on substance use, recovery, and community resources.
- Maintain timely and accurate electronic documentation.
- Provide scheduling, guidance, and support to per diem CASAC staff.
- Ensure patients receive substance use treatment services as outlined in treatment plans.
- Monitor documentation compliance and support staff training and development.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- NYS Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in addiction treatment
- Experience working with individuals with psychiatric illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
- One year of supervisory experience
- Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
