About the Role
ICF is seeking On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists to assist senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork, including survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. This role may also involve laboratory analysis, background research, and report preparation.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior archaeologists in fieldwork
- Conduct survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring
- Perform laboratory analysis
- Conduct background research
- Assist with report preparation
- Take detailed field notes
- Travel for up to 10 days may be involved
- Work outdoors under all weather conditions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, or related field
- 1+ years of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey
- Valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
- Ability to conduct field visits
- All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
Skills
- Excellent field skills
- Ability to identify precontract and historic-period artifacts
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel
- Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices
- Background in precontact or historic-period archaeology
- Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training
- Experience working with and communicating with construction crews
