About the Role
Sift Agents is an AI solution designed to assist hardware engineers by investigating anomalies, reviewing data, and answering complex questions efficiently. This role offers significant product ownership and autonomy, allowing you to engage directly with customers, define product strategy, and manage the entire development lifecycle from MVP to post-launch iterations. The work involves designing user interfaces for agent interactions, developing Kubernetes scaling logic, and focusing on making AI agents dependable through tool design, context management, code execution, evaluation, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product and talk directly to customers to translate real-world review workflows into agent capabilities, including generating dashboards, writing analysis scripts, and surfacing insights from telemetry.
- Design, ship, and operate agentic systems that process large-scale time-series data and hardware domain context.
- Build dependable agent systems, including tool interfaces, sandboxed execution environments for agent-generated code, context and memory management, custom compaction algorithms, skills, and guardrails.
- Develop distributed systems for streaming agent work in real-time, ensuring resilience to disconnects and enabling resumption after restarts.
- Design job-based execution systems for scheduling, scaling, and managing agent workloads on Kubernetes (cloud and on-prem).
- Develop and maintain Sift’s MCP server, enabling agents and customer AI tools to query telemetry.
- Design and implement APIs for agentic capabilities.
- Build evaluation suites to measure agent effectiveness and instrument production systems for quality, latency, cost, and failure modes.
- Integrate and assess frontier models from various providers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience owning a product area, including customer interaction, product definition, and shipping.
- Experience building APIs (REST, gRPC, etc.) and complex backend services using technologies like Go, Python, Rust, or similar.
- Working knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals.
- Curiosity about new AI products, including trying new agents, models, and features as they are released.
