About the Role
Join a hands-on robotics hardware team designing autonomous systems for industrial environments. You will take mechanical subsystems from concept through working prototype, helping turn robotic systems into practical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical subsystem design from initial sketches through prototyping, testing, and iteration.
- Design parts and assemblies in CAD, using calculations and FEA to guide materials, tolerances, and manufacturing choices.
- Fabricate and iterate on prototypes using 3D printers, CNC equipment, and shop tools.
- Integrate mechanical designs with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators on robotic arms and mobile platforms.
- Work with electrical, software, and robotics teams to deliver complete autonomous systems for deployment.
Requirements
- Two to five years of professional experience designing mechanical hardware for 6DOF robot arms or comparable multi-axis robotic systems.
- Experience taking physical robot prototypes from concept to working hardware, including mechanisms, joints, drivetrains, or end effectors.
- Professional robotics design experience and a track record of shipping hardware on a startup or small, hands-on team.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or equivalent CAD tools, plus experience with FEA or topology optimization.
- Hands-on fabrication experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and shop tools, along with experience integrating mechatronic systems.
- Ability to own subsystems end to end and make progress in a fast-moving, lightly structured environment.
