  • Maintain and update employee handbooks, including city- or state-specific supplements.
  • Standardize hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and recordkeeping processes across all restaurants.
  • Collaborate with payroll and finance to ensure accuracy of employee records, scheduling, and hours in HR systems.
  • Manage HR setup for new restaurant openings, including staffing timelines, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Develop recruiting plans for hourly and salaried positions in collaboration with GMs and Chefs.
  • Conduct HR training sessions for store managers on basic HR functions, labor laws, and leadership.
  • Oversee company benefit plans, 401(k), open enrollment, and wage reviews with brokers and the executive team.
  • Provide regular updates to the COO and ownership on headcount, turnover, claims, and operational risk.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of comprehensive HR experience.
  • At least 2 to 3 years in an HR department leadership role (Director, Head of HR, or Senior HR Manager).
  • Practical experience in multi-unit restaurants, hospitality, or food and beverage operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of California and federal labor laws, including wage and hour rules, PAGA, FEHA, leaves, and break requirements.
