About the Role
Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- Understand facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the DOD
- Initiate the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) if a major emergency is spotted
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions and mandatory meetings
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Current certification from American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid
- Current certification from American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Lifeguarding skills and knowledge
- Leadership and public relations skills
- Decision-making skills
- Able to walk, sit, stand, kneel and bend up to 8 hours in one working day
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to work in a humid (degree ranges from 75-90) and noisy environment
- Able to climb in and out of the pool
