About the Role

The Financial Crime Risk Specialist, Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) Reporting and Strategic Insights, Canada is responsible for leading strategic initiatives, process improvement, and cross-team governance and reporting activities supporting the FCRM Canada program. This role works across the team to identify and implement opportunities to strengthen, simplify and modernize processes; coordinate governance activities; and generate actionable insights that support effective management oversight and decision-making. The role works independently with stakeholders across FCRM and partner functions to manage initiatives from planning through implementation, resolve challenges, and drive alignment on key deliverables. The position also works with global FCRM counterparts to promote consistency in reporting standards, governance practices and financial crime risk reporting across jurisdictions. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, sound judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights and executive-ready materials.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic initiatives and special projects across the team, translating priorities into clear deliverables and success measures and driving execution toward outcomes aligned with FCRM priorities, regulatory commitments and governance objectives.
  • Conduct proactive research and analysis across governance and reporting activities to identify trends, risks, dependencies and opportunities, assess implications, and develop actionable insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
  • Coordinate planning of strategic objectives and success measures, ensuring alignment with broader FCRM priorities; monitor and report progress, identify challenges and dependencies, and facilitate resolution or escalation as required.
  • Lead process improvement and modernization initiatives across the team, assessing end-to-end workflows and implementing opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate and strengthen processes while reducing manual effort and rework.
  • Monitor the ongoing effectiveness and sustainability of key processes and implemented improvements, identifying opportunities for further enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain centralized team documentation, including procedures, process narratives, workflows and reporting inventories, promoting consistency, traceability, knowledge management and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate cross-team governance activities, including Internal Audit and other assurance reviews, issue attestations, gap assessments against enterprise policies and standards, Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), Regulatory Compliance Management activities and financial crime risk assessments, as applicable to the team's mandate.
  • Coordinate responses to Internal Audit and other governance or assurance reviews, working with stakeholders to develop clear, well-reasoned responses and supporting documentation; identify and escalate concerns and monitor agreed actions through resolution.
  • Independently research and interpret relevant enterprise frameworks, policies and standards, assess their applicability to team processes and governance practices, and coordinate implementation of required enhancements.
  • Coordinate with FCRM and global partners to advance alignment of Board, executive and governance committee reporting, including reporting practices, standards and key operational metrics across jurisdictions.
  • Lead the development of team-wide reports and summaries that clearly communicate progress, accomplishments, emerging risks, challenges, strategic objectives and outcomes.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from management and senior leadership through research, analysis and preparation of executive-ready materials.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), compliance, risk management, governance, audit, strategy, transformation or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives, governance enhancements, process improvement, reporting transformation or automation within financial services or another highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex initiatives end-to-end, exercise sound judgment, resolve challenges and deliver high-quality outcomes under competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise materials for senior management and governance audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to facilitate alignment, resolve issues and drive cross-functional deliverables.
