About the Role
The Chief Engineer leads all engineering and maintenance operations across the property, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of building systems and facilities. This role manages maintenance strategies, capital projects, budgets, contractor relationships, and team performance while supporting exceptional guest experiences and asset protection.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department.
- Oversee maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs and capital projects.
- Monitor departmental budgets, payroll, and controllable expenses to achieve financial targets.
- Lead contractor relationships and coordinate maintenance, repair, and renovation activities.
- Conduct property inspections and implement actions to maintain asset quality and guest satisfaction.
- Coach, train, and develop engineering associates while managing performance and engagement.
Requirements
- High school diploma with 4 years of engineering or maintenance experience, or a relevant degree with 2 years of experience.
- Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, plumbing, or related disciplines.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Experience managing engineering operations, budgets, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, water safety, and fire life safety systems.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
