This role involves leading zero-to-one initiatives, developing strategic rationale and commercial models, and collaborating with cross-functional leaders to bring ideas from concept to scale.
Responsibilities
- Define and own partnership strategy, setting long-term growth direction and translating market insights into priorities and execution plans.
- Build new opportunities from zero to one by identifying needs, developing business cases, and shaping new partnership and distribution models.
- Make commercial and investment decisions by evaluating market potential, unit economics, strategic fit, and execution requirements.
- Turn early bets into scalable businesses by defining experiments, milestones, and criteria for scaling, pivoting, or stopping.
- Own portfolio performance, taking accountability for commercial outcomes and long-term health of partnerships.
- Build executive relationships and lead complex negotiations, structuring and negotiating agreements.
- Shape cross-functional priorities and resolve blockers by translating strategy into clear product dependencies, resource requirements, and delivery plans.
- Commercialize products globally by developing distribution strategies for B2B and B2B2C payment products.
- Build practices that scale beyond your portfolio by establishing shared planning cadences, decision frameworks, and improving opportunity evaluation and partnership execution.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and commercialization, with deep experience in payments or financial technology.
- Demonstrated ownership of business strategy and commercial outcomes across complex partnerships, products, or markets.
- Proven track record of building new businesses or partnership models from zero to one.
- Experience identifying opportunities, developing business cases, shaping product and go-to-market strategy, negotiating complex agreements, and delivering measurable growth.
- Strong commercial and strategic judgment, including evaluating investment tradeoffs, assessing unit economics, prioritizing resources, and influencing senior leaders.
- Deep knowledge of consumer and business payments, including payments economics, distribution models, and competitive dynamics.
- Ability to translate market developments and emerging business models into actionable growth strategies.
- Proven ability to build C-suite relationships and navigate complex organizations.
- Expert negotiation skills, a strong understanding of commercial contracts, and experience managing dynamics that may be simultaneously cooperative and competitive.
- Strong product fluency and experience working with multiple Product and Engineering teams for a single partner.
- Ability to connect customer needs, technical capabilities, integration requirements, and commercial value.
- Demonstrated ability to influence without formal authority, resolve organizational blockers, and secure cross-functional commitment to shared priorities.
- Experience building repeatable frameworks or operating practices that improve execution beyond immediate responsibilities.
- Entrepreneurial ownership and sound decision-making in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
