About the Role
Reporting to Sarah Phillips, you will own month-end for Flock's finance team, strengthening controls, running the close, and producing variance analysis and MI for FP&A and senior management. This role offers opportunities to improve finance processes using AI and automation, suitable for a recently qualified accountant with strong core accounting experience and a track record of process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Own the month-end close from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and post journals to maintain a clean ledger.
- Run variance analysis and build the monthly MI pack, explaining financial movements.
- Strengthen financial controls and automate manual processes.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with group reporting.
- Collaborate with FP&A to ensure accuracy of budget and senior reporting data.
- Support the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
- Utilize AI tools for daily tasks like reconciliations, analysis, and reporting, sharing best practices.
- Undertake ad hoc finance projects, including R&D tax claims if experienced.
Requirements
- ACA qualification, or strong ACCA or CIMA candidates.
- Practice background with hands-on month-end experience.
- Solid core accounting skills and close attention to detail.
- Experience strengthening financial controls or improving a finance process.
- Curiosity, ambition, and a drive for continuous learning.
- Interest in AI, with existing or desired experience using it.
- Audit experience (nice to have).
- Experience using NetSuite (nice to have).
- Experience automating finance processes (nice to have).
- Exposure to R&D tax claims (nice to have).
- Experience in the tech sector (nice to have).
