About the Role
Contributes to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory, ensuring a clean, safe, and adequately supplied work area. Maintains adequate inventories of reagents and supplies, participates in monitoring and reporting QC, and acquires thorough knowledge of applicable standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the laboratory's LIS responsibilities.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of LIS systems.
- Reviews requisitions and orders, verifies accuracy of corresponding specimens.
- Documents specimen collection information in LIS accurately.
- Updates LIS as necessary.
- Assists laboratory management to design and set-up new assays.
- Assists laboratory management to choose analytical methods.
- Assists laboratory management to establish and optimize operational protocols.
- Maintains complete, accurate, legible, neat, organized, up-to-date records/logs/files.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Lab Sciences or Medical Technology required.
- 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience
- A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
- ASCP preferred
