About the Role

Join a translational proteomics group that discovers and validates novel cell-surface and HLA-presented antigens for therapeutic antibody, bispecific and cell-therapy programs. This role involves working at the interface of proteogenomics and immunopeptidomics, generating high-sensitivity LC-MS/MS data and turning peptide-level evidence into validated target candidates. While expertise in immunopeptidomics or proteogenomics is not required, a solid foundation in laboratory science, bench care, and a strong desire to learn mass spectrometry are essential. Training is provided by experienced scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bottom-up proteomics sample preparation including cell and tissue lysis, enzymatic digestion, peptide cleanup, enrichment, and fractionation.
  • Carry out immunoprecipitation and affinity-enrichment workflows, progressing from guidance to independent execution.
  • Maintain precise sample tracking, run records, reagent logs, and quality-control practices.
  • Support general laboratory operations, including reagent preparation, inventory, instrument housekeeping, and safety compliance.
  • Acquire LC-MS/MS data on high-resolution instrumentation with increasing independence.
  • Learn and perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, performance checks, and first-line troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to method optimization, particularly for low-abundance analytes.
  • Process MS data through established database search workflows and apply appropriate false-discovery control.
  • Review, filter, and summarize results, assessing the validity of identifications.
  • Assist in searching MS data against custom protein sequence databases derived from RNA-seq, ribosome profiling, and long-read transcriptome data.
  • Undertake scripted analysis in Python or R as interest and experience develop.
  • Present data clearly at group meetings and contribute to project-team discussions.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across proteomics, computational biology, genomics, and bioinformatics.
  • Maintain clear written records and contribute to internal reports, with opportunities for manuscripts and external presentations.
  • Proactively identify and communicate issues or problems.

Requirements

  • MS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline with approximately 2–4 years of relevant laboratory experience, OR a BS in a relevant discipline with approximately 4–6 years of laboratory experience.
  • Relevant graduate research, co-op, or internship experience counts toward experience ranges.
  • Solid, demonstrable wet-lab technique, including accurate pipetting, solution preparation, aseptic practice, and meticulous protocol adherence and recording.
  • Coursework or practical experience in protein biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or molecular biology.
  • Comfort working with large data files and spreadsheets, and maintaining organized, well-documented records.
  • Attention to detail and a track record of careful, reproducible work.
  • Ability to explain work performed and observations made.
  • Capacity to work productively in a collaborative group.
  • Hands-on LC-MS or mass spectrometry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with protein biochemistry techniques such as immunoprecipitation, affinity purification, Western blot, cell culture, or tissue handling is preferred.
  • Experience with bottom-up proteomics sample preparation, including digestion and peptide cleanup, is preferred.
  • Exposure to proteomics data analysis software (e.g., PEAKS, FragPipe, Proteome Discoverer, Spectronaut) is preferred.
  • Any immunology background, particularly HLA/MHC antigen presentation, is preferred.
  • Scripting experience in Python or R is preferred.
  • Curiosity about machine learning applied to scientific data or reproducible analysis pipelines is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, CRO, academic core-facility, or university research laboratory setting is preferred.
