About the Role
Fig is building a new generation of digital banking products and is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to build and operate the cloud platform for these products. This role involves owning the AWS environment end-to-end, including infrastructure as code, CI/CD, networking, observability, and security. The engineer will work closely with backend engineers, CISO, and Risk and Compliance teams to set standards for the growing engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Run and evolve the multi-account AWS environment on Control Tower, including account structure, access management, and security controls.
- Manage infrastructure in Terraform, developing reusable modules and implementing drift detection.
- Implement policy-as-code, automated plan checks, and approval gates to ensure safe and auditable infrastructure changes.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines on GitHub Actions for frequent and safe deployments to ECS.
- Design and manage networking, including secure connectivity to partners.
- Implement and operate security controls with the CISO, generating necessary evidence for partners and auditors.
- Build platform reliability through observability, alerting, backups, and disaster recovery for services and databases.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and support backend engineers in providing cover.
- Contribute to technical design, code reviews, and mentoring to raise the bar for the team.
Requirements
- 6+ years in platform, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
- Deep hands-on experience with multi-account AWS, including networking and access management (Organizations or Control Tower, IAM Identity Center, SCPs).
- Production Terraform experience, including module design, state management, and change workflows.
- Hands-on experience running containerized services on ECS or a comparable orchestrator.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions.
- Experience keeping production systems reliable, including observability, on-call, and incident response.
- Experience operating PostgreSQL on RDS through backups, upgrades, and recovery.
- Experience using AI tools in operations work, with the ability to validate output and manage access.
- Ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and communicate trade-offs clearly.
