About the Role
AMD is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for semiconductor operations. This role involves applying computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis principles to design, develop, and troubleshoot software programs for enhancements and new products. You will develop software and tools for design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and cloud-based tools. Additionally, you will optimize 3D graphics drivers, determine hardware compatibility, and influence hardware design. This position requires working on complex system-level software problems with limited supervision, exercising judgment within defined company procedures.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for semiconductor operations.
- Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products.
- Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and Internet related tools.
- Develop and optimize 3D graphics drivers for graphics processing units.
- Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.
- Work in an area of specialization to develop systems-level software, working on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Under limited supervision, exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, applications, and programming.
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD systems and products.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with design and development of full-stack web applications using JavaScript (React.js or Node.js) and Python (Flask, Django, or FastAPI).
- Experience creating interactive data visualizations and dashboards using Python Pandas, Streamlit, or PowerBI to communicate complex data insights.
- Experience developing streaming data pipelines using Scala, Python, or shell scripting for data ingestion processes.
- Experience developing system-level programs using shell scripts to measure and triage performance uplift needed to enhance efficiency and runtime stability.
- Experience with automation for CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins, streamlining testing, deployment, and monitoring processes to support agile development and rapid iteration cycles.
- Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
