About the Role
Whiting Door is seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Mechanic / General Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and upkeep of our manufacturing facility, equipment, and grounds. This role is for a well-rounded individual with experience in general facility maintenance, mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and fabrication, who is a self-starter and enjoys working with their hands.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and make necessary repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems, motors, bearings, belts, and other equipment components.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and general repairs.
- Perform basic welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication as needed.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair metal components, brackets, guards, and other equipment parts.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform general building maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other facility repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist with facility improvements, equipment moves, and other maintenance projects.
- Perform general groundskeeping and exterior property maintenance.
- Assist with snow removal, salting, and winter property maintenance when needed.
- Proactively identify maintenance needs and address issues before they become larger problems.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while prioritizing daily responsibilities.
- Respond to maintenance requests and support production operations as needed.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and follow through to completion.
- Maintain a flexible, team-oriented approach and willingness to assist wherever needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in general maintenance, industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or a similar hands-on role.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Experience with fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, or metalworking.
- Comfortable using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance and facility repairs.
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems, and use good judgment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to take on a variety of responsibilities.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required.
- Willingness to work outdoors and assist with seasonal property maintenance, including snow removal.
