About the Role
Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Technician! The primary focus of this position is maintenance, service, and repair of facilities and equipment. Successful Mechanical Technicians are fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers who can work under pressure and in varying conditions. Technicians receive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain machines and the plant facility’s equipment
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
- Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Requirements
- 2 Year Mechanical Tech Degree or 5+ years’ experience
- Medical Clearance for use of Fall Protection Harness (Weight restrictions related to equipment limitations may apply)
- Machine repair and troubleshooting
- Hand tools & measuring instruments
- Welding
- Experience with pipe fitting, centrifugal pipe repair, rigging & lifting, rotating equipment, industrial hydraulic power, bearings, industrial lubrication, and statistical process control
- Manufacturing experience preferred
