About the Role
Fig is building a new generation of digital banking products and is hiring a Senior Mobile Engineer to build and own the Fig banking app on iOS and Android. This role requires a React Native specialist comfortable across the stack in TypeScript, with experience shipping production apps and building backend services. The engineer will work closely with Product, Design, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to set mobile patterns, tooling, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship features in our React Native and Expo app, from onboarding and account management to money movement.
- Own the mobile release process end-to-end: EAS builds, App Store and Google Play submissions, OTA updates, feature flags, and staged rollouts.
- Improve the mobile developer experience: local tooling, CI pipelines, and build times.
- Drive app quality: performance, startup time, stability, crash-free rate, and accessibility.
- Implement security-critical mobile capabilities such as biometric authentication, secure storage, device integrity checks, and session management.
- Shape the APIs the app relies on, and contribute to them directly alongside backend engineers.
- Partner with Design to build a shared component library and a polished, consistent user experience.
- Use AI tools and agents to accelerate how we build, test, and ship.
- Raise the bar through code review, testing practices, and mentoring other engineers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years building and shipping production React Native apps in TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with Expo (EAS Build/Submit, OTA updates) and owning App Store and Google Play releases.
- Strong React fundamentals and experience diagnosing and fixing React Native performance issues, from re-renders to native-layer bottlenecks.
- Daily use of AI coding tools, with the judgment to review and validate what they produce.
- The ability to make pragmatic technical decisions and communicate trade-offs clearly.
- Experience using AI tools in operations work such as incident investigation, with the judgment to validate their output and keep their access tightly scoped.
