About the Role
This position involves overseeing inmate labor and team members in food service operations within a jail/correctional facility. You will prepare and serve food items according to menus and work instructions, utilizing various food preparation tools and machines. The role reports to a Food Service Director.
Responsibilities
- Manage inmate labor and team members during food preparation and service shifts.
- Serve food according to planned meal schedules and department procedures.
- Cook food using kitchen utensils and equipment, following recipes and portion control.
- Train other food service workers.
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Be able to stand and be on your feet for much of the scheduled shift.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as determined by operational needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred.
