About the Role
AMD is seeking a Product Development Engineer to develop and test electrical/electronic components and systems for semiconductor products like CPUs, GPUs, and APUs. This role involves managing products from definition through end-of-life, designing post-silicon validation infrastructures, and devising thermal and power test content. You will create and refine test patterns, oversee debugging and characterization, and conduct product pattern debug to assess performance and analyze sensitivities. Involvement spans the entire product lifecycle, including modifications, upgrades, and maintenance. You will work on problems of moderate scope, applying engineering principles and technologies to AMD products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and/or test electrical/electronic components and/or systems for semiconductor products (CPUs, GPUs, and/or APUs).
- Design, develop, and/or manage activities for a specific product or group of products from product definition and planning through production, release and end of life.
- Design and implement post-silicon validation infrastructures.
- Devise and validate thermal and power test content in pre- and post-silicon for comprehensive coverage.
- Create and refine test patterns and flows, while overseeing debugging, testing, and characterization processes to ensure test accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct product pattern debug and characterization to assess performance, analyze process and test sensitivities.
- Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product’s lifestyle including modifications, upgrades and maintenance of the product or product line.
- Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Under supervision, exercise limited judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles.
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.
Requirements

- Experience in developing scripts for tests.
- Experience in performing hardware and software verification.
- Experience in logic and circuit design.
- Experience in SOC, GPU, or CPU architecture.
- Experience with C, C++, or Python.
- Experience with Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL.
- Experience in functional verification of microprocessors.
- Experience with design flows and methodologies used for chip verification.
- Experience with ASIC design and tools (synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis).
- Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
