About the Role
Foresight is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to build the core platform and product. You will develop systems to enhance the efficient delivery of large-scale construction projects, design APIs and data models for risk predictions and AI recommendations, and create interfaces for understanding complex projects. This is a hands-on role requiring ownership of features from database to browser, focusing on accuracy, scalability, and observability.
Responsibilities
- Own features from technical design through release and beyond, measuring adoption and iterating.
- Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate new models into production features.
- Partner with product, design, and customers to identify key problems to solve.
- Optimize performance across the stack, including page load, rendering, query speed, API latency, and uptime.
- Enhance architecture, testing, observability, and deployment processes.
- Contribute to shaping the product and technical roadmap.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping web products with full-stack ownership.
- Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Django, or similar) for backend development.
- Strong TypeScript and React skills for frontend development.
- Solid relational data modeling in Postgres, including schema design, indexes, query plans, migrations, and ORM (SQLAlchemy).
- Experience with asynchronous operations: queues, background jobs, retries, idempotency, and worker failure handling.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, RDS, managed queues/events, containers, serverless).
- Attention to detail regarding correctness in financial transactions, permissions, concurrency, and multi-tenant data isolation.
- Ability to write tests and debug production issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Clear written communication skills.
- Comfortable making pragmatic trade-offs in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
