About the Role
You will lead our Compute, Data, and DevEx teams, owning everything Genius AI ships. You will set the reliability bar, manage vendor spend, and build the self-service platform for product engineers. You will define the platform's future and grow the team that builds it. You report to the VP of Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical roadmap for infrastructure and the data platform, defining how to scale to support an order of magnitude more traffic while maintaining 99.95% uptime and controlling cloud spend across multiple AWS regions.
- Shape agentic production operations as the default, building the AI enablement layer for engineers to delegate routine operational work.
- Define the reliability engineering practice with product engineering, establishing SLI and SLO frameworks, and managing incident response and post-mortems.
- Improve developer experience through CI platform standardization and self-service tooling for infrastructure as code management.
- Drive incident command during critical outages and convert them into systemic fixes.
- Own vendor strategy and infrastructure budget, including contract negotiation and vendor migrations.
- Manage managers or tech leads and scale a team through growth periods while maintaining performance and culture.
- Develop engineers and track their career progression.
Requirements
- 8+ years of infrastructure or platform engineering experience.
- At least 4 years managing or leading engineering teams at a high-growth technology company.
- Demonstrated ability to fundamentally change team operations using AI, including designing systems and defining absorbed work.
- Ability to make decisions and iterate quickly, setting technical direction with incomplete information and adjusting based on data.
- Deep hands-on expertise across AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, ArgoCD, and modern observability tooling.
- Ability to debug complex distributed systems.
- Strong business acumen, treating cloud spend, developer velocity, and reliability as enablement factors.
