About the Role

  • Provide decision-ready insights by transforming financial and operational data into concise options and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Drive performance through regular reviews focused on root cause analysis, forward impact, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee financial stewardship of the P&L, balance sheet, cash, working capital, and capital expenditure.
  • Shape investment choices by assessing business cases and tracking approved benefits.
  • Identify and deliver practical opportunities to reduce costs, strengthen cash, simplify processes, and improve resource allocation.
  • Improve reporting, models, data quality, and controls through standardization, automation, and responsible technology use.
  • Build trusted relationships and coordinate effectively across Finance and the wider business.
  • Manage and coach Finance Analysts, setting clear priorities and assuring work quality.
  • Build clear cost-driver insight across operational costs such as labour, contractors, fleet, and facilities.
  • Partner with operational leaders on capacity, suppliers, service levels, and resource choices.
  • Lead Finance support for capital planning, project forecasting, and post-investment review.
  • Improve decisions related to stock, fleet, print production, working capital, and cost allocation.
  • Provide reliable cost evidence for contract profitability, tenders, renewals, and portfolio decisions.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in Finance Business Partnering, FP&A, commercial finance, or operational finance, independently supporting a complex senior-leader remit.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, capital expenditure, accruals, provisions, and management reporting.
  • Proven track record of leading budgets, forecasts, analytical projects, and improvement activities through to practical action and measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and financial-modelling capability.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP, planning, or business-intelligence tools.
  • Experience using AI tools to support effectiveness.
  • The judgement and confidence to influence and constructively challenge senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues simply.
  • Strong prioritization and project leadership skills.
  • Attention to detail, including timely escalation when delivery, assumptions, or controls are at risk.
  • Experience developing others, or clear readiness to coach, delegate, and assure the quality of an analyst’s work.
