About the Role
BigHand is seeking an experienced Platform/DevOps consultant or contractor for a 6-month fixed-term project to migrate on-premises services to a multi-region, highly available Azure environment. This role involves implementing automation, security, and observability tooling to support the migration.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver an Azure landing zone.
- Migrate on-premises services to a multi-region, highly available Azure platform (PaaS and IaaS), including containerized workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service and Docker.
- Embed security controls and testing across build and release pipelines, with documented security standards.
- Extend and harden the existing Terraform and PowerShell module library.
- Automate manual build, release, and operational processes, providing reusable templates.
- Deliver monitoring, dashboards, and usage/uptime reporting for migrated platforms.
- Produce operational runbooks, incident response guidance, and security documentation.
- Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions for internal teams.
- Provide a written assessment of opportunities to improve tooling, processes, and cloud costs.
Requirements
- Proven track record delivering Azure migrations and landing zones.
- Ability to scope, plan, and deliver work independently against agreed outcomes.
