About the Role
Work on the security-critical parts of a UK government Android app, including login, using native Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. This contract will test your mobile security expertise.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve common parts of the Android app, such as login, in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose.
- Apply secure coding practices to authentication, data storage, and network calls, in line with OWASP MASVS.
- Work on integrating features from other teams into the app.
- Review code, including for security issues, and submit your own code for review.
- Monitor Crashlytics post-release and fix any crashing issues.
- Collaborate closely with QA and backend engineers, and proactively flag technical or security risks.
Requirements
- Several years of commercial experience in native Android development, with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Hands-on mobile security experience, including authentication, secure storage, or certificate pinning.
- Working knowledge of OWASP Mobile Top 10 and MASVS.
- Ability to explain the risk each security measure protects against and its effectiveness.
- Experience using Crashlytics to maintain app stability.
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team and providing constructive feedback in code reviews.
- Eligible for SC clearance (requires continuous UK residency for the last 5 years). Ideally already hold SC clearance.
