About the Role
As a Head Host / Hostess at Big Mamma's restaurant Edmondo in Hamburg, you will be the first impression of the entire experience, setting the tone, managing the flow, and ensuring every guest feels expected, welcomed, and valued in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a warm, professional, and structured welcome at all times
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, and table allocation
- Optimize seating flow and coordinate closely with the floor team
- Anticipate guest needs and adapt communication accordingly
- Handle peak moments with composure, clarity, and efficiency
- Elevate waiting time into a positive, well-managed experience
- Lead, train, and coordinate a team of 3 hosts/hostesses
- Ensure service consistency, engagement, and performance follow-up
- Oversee back-office operations including reservations, guest database, and service planning
- Optimize booking strategies and seating flow
- Act as a key liaison between front desk and operations
- Ensure high standards in guest communication, problem-solving, and overall experience
Requirements
- Fluent German (min. C1) and confident English
- Previous experience in hospitality, guest relations, or high-volume service
- Strong communication skills and natural presence
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Calm under pressure, solution-oriented mindset
- A genuine passion for hospitality and guest experience
