About the Role
Manages cybersecurity teams, focusing on strategic priorities, financial planning, and human capital to protect the Bank from internal and external threats.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning for cyber initiatives, aligning cybersecurity objectives with business goals.
- Prioritize work and incorporate into financial plans.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies, controls, and frameworks in partnership with technology risk.
- Manage initiatives to implement new methodologies for proactive risk management.
- Partner with incident response teams to update and test plans against emerging threats.
- Oversee technology and systems, influencing senior leadership for system selection and leading design.
- Interpret regulatory and compliance requirements, ensuring implementation of necessary controls.
- Present in regulatory engagements to address cybersecurity-related legal and regulatory requirements.
- Create a strong workforce plan, including mentoring, career development, succession planning, and training.
- Contribute to the bank-wide information security training and awareness program.
- Collaborate with leaders to create programs meeting Cybersecurity objectives and organizational needs.
- Exercise managerial authority over staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management, and terminations.
- Adhere to risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; design, implement, and maintain internal controls.
- Identify and escalate risk-related issues.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and regulatory issues.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience, or a combined minimum of 11 years’ higher education and/or work experience.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of Cybersecurity principles.
- Minimum 6 years’ work experience in/with the specific cybersecurity function.
- Minimum 2 years’ managerial experience.
- Minimum of 6 years’ managerial experience (preferred).
- Proven ability to mentor and lead cybersecurity individual contributors (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills (preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal skills (preferred).
- Ability to effectively articulate messages to technical and business teams (preferred).
- Experience effectively influencing peers and leaders (preferred).
- Experience prioritizing across competing priorities and a quickly changing landscape (preferred).
- Experience in a highly regulated industry environment (preferred).
- Proficient understanding of financial services regulations, compliance requirements, and risk management practices (preferred).
- Ability to translate business objectives into strategic cyber plans, programs, and initiatives (preferred).
