About the Role
The Arc Jefferson – St. Lawrence seeks individuals with documented disabilities that may inhibit their ability to obtain and maintain normal competitive employment. This role provides opportunities to people with disabilities to perform general cleaning tasks and maintain work areas.
Responsibilities
- Use high and low speed maintenance equipment as assigned.
- Use carpet cleaning equipment as assigned.
- Trash removal.
- Sweep/mop/dust/vacuum as assigned.
- Wet mop.
- Perform restroom disinfectant and cleaning as assigned.
- Perform floor stripping and waxing applications.
- Wash windows.
- Monitor use of equipment and report any malfunctions or problems to supervisor.
- Practice “Safety First”.
Requirements
- Experience in janitorial work preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Must be capable of moving up and down stairs without difficulty.
- Must be capable of working on feet for extended periods of time.
- Must provide your own transportation to work.
- Must be able to read and identify SDS sheets and various chemical labels and markings.
- Must be willing to learn proper use of cleaning agents and usage of various supplies.
- Must be willing to learn proper maintenance and safety features of both light and heavy custodial equipment.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Some travel may be required between work sites, as per the need of the contract or agency requirements.
