About the Role
Joseph Gallagher Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the safe, commercial, and operational management of major heavy civils and tunnelling projects, ensuring delivery from award to completion on time, within budget, and to high standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the site is run in a safe and efficient manner.
- Lead project teams to successfully deliver heavy civil engineering and tunnelling projects.
- Maximize the commercial performance of the contract.
- Produce procurement schedules and liaise with Procurement to ensure resource availability.
- Continuously forecast project performance, manage scope changes, and keep the team informed of financial and programme forecasts.
- Control costs associated with variations, unplanned works, and additional resources.
- Report Risks and Opportunities to the Senior Management Team.
- Deliver projects to specified quality standards without defects.
- Ensure the production and implementation of Project Plans, RAMS, ITPs, and Waste Management Plans.
- Manage project programmes and drive progress to meet contractual milestones.
- Maintain accurate detailed site diaries, project records, and reporting systems.
- Chair project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain commercial tension to drive out unnecessary costs and challenge the status quo.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, designers, supply chain partners, and operational teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing heavy civils and infrastructure projects as a Project Manager.
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent as a minimum.
- Strong understanding and practical experience of NEC4 Contracts, particularly Option A.
- Experience in Design Management, Programme Management, and Risk Management.
- Proven experience producing CVRs, managing cost control, forecasting, and value assessments.
- SMSTS qualification.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage project budgets effectively.
- Ability to challenge designs and resolve engineering and construction issues.
- Ability to independently manage and successfully deliver projects with minimal guidance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
