About the Role

You'll lead Alto's move to its next-generation platform, designed for both people and AI agents. You will define the platform's architecture, build its foundations, and create a blueprint for other teams to follow.

Responsibilities

Own the target architecture, including key design decisions, system boundaries, and build standards.
Build the platform and migrate real features onto it.
Guide other teams by reviewing designs and removing impediments.
Challenge existing technical direction and proofs of concept.
Take end-to-end ownership of design, build, rollout, and incident management.
Carve out core business capabilities from the existing monolith into .NET.
Build the Jobs of Work layer in TypeScript on top of core capabilities.
Migrate key production data to modern database services in live use.
Design capabilities for AI agents, ensuring clear interfaces, secure permissions, and audit trails.
Implement safeguards for AI agent actions, including human sign-off for financial or legal steps.
Share proofs of concept to gather early feedback.
Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and updates clearly.

Requirements

Experience migrating live systems where old and new ran concurrently.
Ability to identify and address technical debt, especially in long-lived codebases and data layers.
Experience building for AI agents or a strong understanding of their safe operation in business systems.
Ability to define and enforce technical boundaries and ownership through code.
Experience setting technical strategy and influencing teams without direct management.
A preference for demonstrating solutions through proofs of concept.
Consideration for the end-user experience of migrations.
Clear communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
