About the Role
This position is for a telecommunications, structured cabling, and technology Field Service Technician. The job will consist of completing various cable runs, hardware moves, adds, changes and “smart hands” installations for Granite customers, primarily within a 50-mile service area radius. The technician will also be responsible for leading subcontracted crews on larger projects in the area. A company vehicle is provided, and the technician will report directly to a remote supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with NI team members and departments that schedule each service call.
- Complete basic structured cabling repairs and new installations according to industry standard practices.
- Perform Smart Hands installations and maintenance with various technology platforms and changing SOWs.
- Provide all required job and project deliverables within 24 hours or otherwise specified in an SOW.
- Keep company vehicle clean and serviced properly.
- Maintain stocked materials and tools, with accountability through scheduled inventory counts.
Requirements
- 5-10 years structured cabling experience
- Ability to tone and test copper wiring / analog dial tone
- Ability to terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A cablings
- Ability to terminate and test Coax cabling
- Ability to patch and roll fiber
- Proficiency with laptop skills including Excel, Putty/Hyper Terminal for remote sessions
- Basic Networking knowledge including Modem GUIs, Command Prompts, and initiating remote sessions
- Light travel required
