About the Role

SNG (Sovereign Network Group) is seeking a Senior Design and Technical Manager to drive excellence across design and technical functions, ensuring effective delivery of development briefs, standards, and specifications. The role focuses on project design and delivery with consideration for cost, quality, programme, risk, and viability, contributing to high-quality, sustainable, and compliant homes while promoting innovation and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Manage external consultant teams, line manage the Development Document Information Controller, and mentor/coach technical employees.
Lead the Regional Development team in implementing design, procurement, and delivery strategies to mitigate risk and optimize development opportunities.
Provide design and technical advice, review pre-planning designs and specifications, identify design quality issues, and periodically update SNG’s employers’ requirements.
Lead design and technical due-diligence analysis of proposed land bids, producing site-specific design and technical reports.
Support with house/apartment typologies and compliance with building regulations, net-zero carbon targets, and NHBC technical standards.
Review designs for compatibility with approved concepts, financial budgets, and functional suitability.

Requirements

Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience as a Design and/or Technical Manager delivering low-rise housing and high-rise apartments from concept to completion on green and brown-field sites.
Significant experience in delivering Regulatory and Statutory / Warranty compliance for residential development.
Experience leading on technical excellence in sustainability, net-zero carbon solutions, fabric-first approach, and renewable technologies.
Significant practical knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC technical Standards, and specifications (current and emerging) for residential development and ability to integrate them into technical designs.
