About the Role
Isomorphic Labs is applying frontier AI to help unlock deeper scientific insights, faster breakthroughs, and life-changing medicines with an ambition to solve all disease. We are hiring Medicinal Drug Design Leads to deliver scientific expertise and strategic direction on portfolio projects, supporting world-leading AI/ML Drug Design Platform teams and driving improvements in the platform for impactful drug design projects. This is a scientific leadership role with hands-on individual contributor responsibilities, including mentoring junior colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Invent new medicines by rapidly driving drug discovery programs to value inflection points.
- Deploy knowledge of modern discovery principles and synthetic organic chemistry as a Medicinal Chemistry Lead.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support data-driven delivery of high-quality scientific solutions.
- Provide strategic input and technical direction to AI/ML platform teams.
- Represent the company externally, interacting with collaborators and Contract Research Organisations (CROs).
- Effectively manage CRO resources and monitor KPIs.
- Prepare detailed scientific proposals and reports.
- Embrace and champion a culture of inclusion and continuous professional development.
Requirements
- PhD in Medicinal Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, or a related technical field, or equivalent industrial experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in a Medicinal Chemistry role within biotech, pharma, or CRO.
- Proven track record of leading medicinal chemistry efforts on drug discovery projects, with significant contributions to project progression (hit identification through lead optimisation/candidate nomination).
- Familiarity with optimisation of DMPK.
- Experience contributing to structure-based drug design problems.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities for complex drug discovery challenges.
- Experience working with and closely managing CRO resources.
- Strong track record of scientific achievements (publications, patents, presentations).
- Genuine passion for drug discovery and enthusiasm for AI/ML's potential in the field.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, collaborative team environment.
- Track record of creative problem solving with a strong growth mindset, adaptability, and eagerness to learn.
