About the Role
Join an early-stage AI company building software for insurance claims operations. As the founding product designer, you will shape the end-to-end user experience for claims teams and help turn complex workflows into clear, enterprise-ready products.
Responsibilities
- Design customer-facing experiences, including daily claims workspaces and dashboards for team leads and executives.
- Research customer product usage through behavioral data, heat maps, discovery calls, and direct observation, then prioritize improvements.
- Partner with product and engineering to translate customer problems into workflows and implementation-ready designs.
- Design interactions for AI agents that make their actions, sources, reasoning, and uncertainty clear to users, while supporting human review and intervention.
- Guide product experiences from discovery through delivery as the platform evolves for larger insurance organizations.
- Establish design principles and a design system, and use AI tools to prototype and evaluate improvements.
Requirements
- Five to eight years of product design experience, including early-stage startup experience as a founding designer or first design hire.
- A UX-first, data-informed approach to simplifying complex workflows, supported by product analytics and user research.
- Experience designing dense, technical software used regularly by operational teams, with strong end-to-end product design work beyond visual UI.
- Experience prototyping with AI coding tools such as Claude or Lovable.
- Experience in insurance, claims, healthcare, or another compliance-heavy operational domain is a plus.
- Experience with AI and human-in-the-loop product interactions, or building design systems, is also valued.
