About the Role

This role leads the Pet & Consumer CPG and Retail Media verticals within Biddable, directly manages a team of 3–4, and serves as a strong #2 to the VP in strategic and measurement plan development, while keeping daily social and retail media operations running smoothly across a high-volume enterprise portfolio. The Senior Director helps shape how Mile Marker delivers social and commerce media, defines the practice’s operating frameworks, drives organic growth and new business, and keeps the agency ahead of evolving social and commerce media trends.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the agency’s largest client, with a $50MM+ annual paid media budget across biddable channels, setting strategic direction for the team that runs it day to day.
  • Directly manage, develop and grow a team of 3–4, including hiring, performance management, coaching and career pathing.
  • Maintain high-level operational oversight of 50+ client accounts, tracking pacing hygiene, KPI performance (ROAS, iROAS, TACoS, CAC) and quality assurance across social and retail media channels.
  • Proactively diagnose underperforming accounts, operational bottlenecks or resourcing gaps, stepping in with targeted support or temporary execution bandwidth.
  • Keep the team on track against weekly deliverables, campaign launches, retail calendar moments (Prime Day, Walmart Deals, Target Circle Week, holiday) and monthly pacing targets, working closely with Directors.
  • Share proven approaches and test learnings with the other Biddable verticals.
  • Cultivate relationships with key platform and retailer partners (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Instacart, Meta, TikTok) to stay ahead of product roadmaps and secure early access for clients.
  • Uncover and evaluate organic scale opportunities across active accounts, including emerging RMNs, quick-commerce networks, social storefronts and innovative ad products, and turn them into pitch-ready strategic recommendations.
  • Co-lead new business acquisition alongside the VP, driving social, retail and commerce media positioning through capability presentations, channel blueprints and technical onboarding plans.
  • Help build Mile Marker’s social and commerce media capabilities, setting the channel standards, audit frameworks and QA protocols the team works from.
  • Develop repeatable, packageable offerings (e.g., retail media audits, last-mile launch frameworks, retail calendar planning guides) for use in pitches and client expansions.
  • Lead the technical and operational onboarding framework for new client accounts, establishing platform and retailer access (Seller/Vendor Central, Walmart Seller Center, Roundel partner portals), pixel and Conversions API tracking, catalog and product feed setup, governance taxonomies and initial campaign structures.
  • Partner with Client Solutions during new client handoffs to translate brand and commerce objectives into actionable social and retail media strategies without sacrificing execution quality or margin standards.
  • Coordinate with client sales, trade marketing and eCommerce teams to align retail media investment with joint business plans, retailer negotiations and inventory availability.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert across social and retail media ecosystems, including algorithm behavior, automated bidding mechanics, signal loss solutions, audience architecture, sponsored product and on-site/off-site retail formats, and retailer DSPs.
  • Lead the agency’s testing roadmap for emerging AI capabilities (e.g., Meta Advantage+, TikTok Smart+, Amazon Performance+, retailer generative creative tools, automated bid and budget rules, custom AI workflows) to validate incrementality and operational efficiency gains.
  • Track privacy regulation, ad tech changes and platform updates, and turn them into recommendations for internal teams and clients.
  • Collaborate with the AI & Innovation and Analytics teams to automate day-to-day workflows and routine tasks, including retail media reporting across tools such as Pacvue, Skai or Amazon Marketing Cloud.
  • Collaborate with Client Solutions leads from plan development to optimization as both a strategic business partner and subject matter expert.
  • Translate complex multi-channel and retailer data sets (including closed-loop sales, new-to-brand and share-of-shelf metrics) into clear, actionable business insights (“so what” narratives) for senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with the VP to lead strategic channel reviews, QBRs and critical technical presentations for key enterprise client accounts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in digital performance marketing, with 6+ years in an agency setting managing paid social and retail media practices.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing large-scale portfolio operations, supervising execution quality across a high volume of accounts (50+ active client accounts).
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven record of coaching, developing and keeping cross-functional teams on track against tight operational deadlines.
  • Demonstrated success designing and establishing practice capabilities, service offerings and operational frameworks for social and commerce media beyond standard account management.
  • Proven ability to drive organic growth by scaling budgets, expanding channel footprints and broadening scope across active client accounts.
  • Active involvement in new business pitch development, crafting channel strategies and leading capability presentations.
  • Expert-level, hands-on command of social platforms, including Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, Pinterest Ads, Snap Ads and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  • Expert-level, hands-on command of retail media platforms, including Amazon Ads (Sponsored Ads and Amazon DSP), Walmart Connect, Roundel, Instacart Ads and other emerging retail media networks.
  • Deep fluency in modern ad tech and signal infrastructure, including Conversions APIs (CAPI), Google Tag Manager, catalog and product feed management, platform attribution models, and clean rooms such as Amazon Marketing Cloud.
  • Proven experience testing and deploying platform AI/ML features (e.g., Advantage+, Smart+, Performance+, generative ad tools) to drive efficiency and performance lift.
  • Working knowledge of retail commerce fundamentals: digital shelf, product detail page health, inventory and buy box dynamics, and their impact on media performance.
  • Working knowledge of paid search, particularly how it interacts with retail media and marketplace performance.
  • Proven track record leading complex technical and strategic client onboardings, translating marketing and commerce objectives into scalable account structures, tagging protocols and governance taxonomies.
  • Strong strategic storytelling, with a history of turning complex platform mechanics into business narratives for senior client stakeholders and executive reviews (QBRs).
  • High-level adaptability and market fluency across signal loss, privacy regulation and retail media network growth.
