About the Role

Unity House is seeking a dependable, hands-on individual to help maintain our buildings, grounds, and program locations. This role involves a variety of projects, from general repairs and painting to minor remodeling and event setup, offering a dynamic work environment for those who prefer to be active and on the move.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance and upkeep of agency buildings, program locations, and grounds.
Complete apartment demolition.
Perform sheetrock installation, taping, sanding, painting, and other light construction tasks.
Complete basic plumbing and electrical repairs.
Assist with moving furniture, filing cabinets, equipment, and other items.
Help set up and break down agency events.
Assist with organizing and maintaining storage units.
Respond to property maintenance emergencies as part of a 24-hour on-call rotation, assessing situations, making repairs when qualified, and escalating issues when necessary.
Promote a workplace culture grounded in inclusion, respect, and belonging.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
General maintenance, remodeling, or light construction experience, including basic plumbing and electrical knowledge.
Ability to safely operate power tools.
Valid and clean New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to lift heavy objects and remain on your feet for most of the workday.
Ability to work outdoors as needed.
Flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation and work occasional evenings and weekends.
