About the Role
The Yale Club of New York City is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Laundry Room Attendant to join our Housekeeping team. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and proper handling of linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items used throughout the Club. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, maintains high standards of cleanliness, and contributes to the exceptional service expected by our members and guests.
Responsibilities
- Sort, dry, fold, and organize linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items.
- Operate commercial dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect laundry for stains, damage, and overall cleanliness.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure clean linens are properly stored and distributed.
- Keep the laundry room, equipment, and storage areas clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals, detergents, and laundry supplies.
- Report equipment malfunctions, damaged linens, and supply shortages to management.
- Assist the Housekeeping team with additional duties as assigned.
- Follow all Club policies, safety procedures, and standards of professionalism.
Requirements
- Previous laundry or housekeeping experience in a hotel, private club, or hospitality environment preferred.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate commercial laundry equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull laundry bags, linen carts, and supplies up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high-quality work standards.
- Must be available to work Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including weekends.
- This position requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements associated with laundry operations.
- Employees must be able to follow safety protocols when handling laundry carts, linens, laundry chemicals and other department equipment throughout their scheduled shift.
