About the Role

The UD Team SBYD Assistant Coach will leverage their passion and expertise in sports, health, and fitness to positively impact young lives. Utilizing a Sports-Based Youth Development (SBYD) framework, coaches will integrate life skills with sports skills to help at-risk youth re-engage in their academic communities.

Responsibilities

Supervise students during meals, dismissal, and school events.
Oversee students during physical activities.
Assist in coordinating special events.
Initiate contact with families or designated contacts and relay messages.
Monitor student transitions and report behavior to appropriate staff.
Conduct daily one-on-one check-ins with students.
Perform outreach to ensure student attendance and reportability.
Provide ongoing academic and socio-emotional support and feedback to students.
Collaborate with parents/guardians to foster student academic involvement.
Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and next steps.

Requirements

Knowledge of coaching and sports-based youth development.
Demonstrated ability to multitask and deliver high-quality work.
Commitment to the UD Team mission and core values: Teamwork, Leadership, and Communication.
Commitment to restorative practices and a strength-based, youth development approach.
Ability to function effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Team-oriented with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, a passion for serving at-risk youth, and a sense of humor.
Ability to actively engage with students and move throughout the school.
Ability to navigate stairs and assist with setup or materials as required (accommodations available per ADA).
