About the Role
This role offers hands-on experience supporting airport planning, design, and infrastructure projects at commercial and general aviation airports, utilizing the latest industry technologies. Gain valuable experience toward a professional career in civil engineering through collaboration with various professionals on projects that enhance airport safety, operations, and capacity.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and design of airport infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, and landside facilities
- Support the preparation of engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and construction documents
- Perform field investigations, site inspections, and data collection at airport facilities
- Assist with FAA grant-funded projects and become familiar with the airport improvement program
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop plans and exhibits
- Coordinate with project teams and support project deliverables throughout design and construction phases
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Interest in aviation engineering, airport design, and transportation infrastructure
- Availability: Summer 2027 or Summer/Fall 2027
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred
- Previous civil engineering co-op, internship, or aviation-related experience is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to visit active airport and construction project sites as needed
