About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Finance to build and lead a 24/7 finance function for our iGaming platforms, leveraging automation and AI for efficiency. This role involves owning finance operations, reporting, tax, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions, focusing on a lean, automated finance stack.
Responsibilities
- Design and own Arena's finance tech stack, connecting iplicit, banks, PSPs, crypto wallets, payroll and gaming platforms through APIs and integrations.
- Utilize AI tools like Claude to automate bookkeeping, reconciliations, invoice processing, variance analysis, and reporting.
- Build towards a continuous close process for real-time financial data.
- Set up automated alerts and dashboards for cash, payment flows, and anomalies to enable 24/7 operation without round-the-clock staffing.
- Maintain a roadmap for automation initiatives, measuring time and cost savings.
- Own the close, reconciliations, and controls for all group entities, with automation handling routine checks.
- Deliver management accounts, statutory accounts, and group reporting with live dashboards for leadership.
- Oversee payables, receivables, payroll inputs, and supplier payments through automated workflows.
- Manage bank, PSP, and payment provider relationships, including fiat and crypto rails.
- Monitor payment flows, deposits, withdrawals, and safeguarding of player funds 24/7 through automated tooling.
- Forecast cash across entities and currencies using data-driven methods.
- Automate intercompany recharges, balances, and settlements between group entities.
- Support entity migrations, restructures, and dividend and settlement planning.
- Maintain a consistent and machine-readable chart of accounts, nominal codes, and accounting policies.
- Own corporation tax and other filings across jurisdictions, collaborating with external advisors.
- Maintain AML/CFT, KYC, and financial control policies, using automation for organized audit evidence.
- Ensure AI and automation are integrated within a clear control framework for auditors and regulators.
- Handle director appointments, registers, statutory filings, and corporate records for all group entities.
- Lead a small, high-output team, determining the optimal balance between human judgment and automation.
- Serve as the primary finance contact for the board, auditors, regulators, and advisors.
- Champion AI adoption across the business, assisting other teams with finance-related automation.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- 6+ years in finance, ideally in iGaming, crypto, fintech, or other fast-moving regulated sectors.
- Proven track record of automating finance processes with demonstrable time or headcount savings.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT in daily finance work.
- Proficiency with APIs, integrations, and automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n).
- Experience managing multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction group finance, including intercompany accounting.
- Working knowledge of AML/CFT and KYC in regulated gaming.
- Strong understanding of UK and Gibraltar company and tax filings.
- Comfort with cloud accounting (iplicit or similar) and data tools beyond Excel.
- Clear communication skills, capable of explaining finance and automation to non-finance colleagues.
