About the Role
Akron Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate and energetic Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist in Akron, NY. This dual role involves greeting clients and providing hands-on support to veterinary staff in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets, manage check-ins, and ensure a welcoming front desk experience
- Schedule appointments, answer phones, and respond to client inquiries in a timely manner
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and medical procedures
- Restrain and handle animals safely and humanely during treatments
- Prepare exam rooms, maintain cleanliness, and restock medical supplies
- Process payments, manage patient records, and maintain accurate medical documentation
- Educate pet owners on post-visit care instructions and follow-up needs
Requirements
- Prior experience in a veterinary, animal care, or customer service setting preferred
- Comfortable handling and restraining animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and team members
- Proficiency with scheduling software, phone systems, and basic computer skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinic environment
- Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor with both people and animals
- High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary assistant coursework a plus
